At Year 7 to 8 BSC students study core subjects of English, Maths, Humanities, Science, Physical Education/Health, LOTE and sport. Electives are offered in Art, Information Technology, Food, Textiles, Wood Technologies, Music and Drama. The elective system is scaffolded to ensure junior students experience all options before specialising in their subject selections. At Years 9 and 10 students study core subjects of English, Maths, Humanities, and Science and select from electives in Art, Information Technology, LOTE, Physical Education/Health, Food, Textiles, Wood , Automotive Technologies, Music and Drama. Students in Yr 10 may select a VCE Unit 1 and 2 sequence or a VET study in Automotive or Food Technology. A wide and comprehensive range of VCE subject is offered to Students in Yrs 11 and 12, which is detailed in the Senior School section. Students are able to pursue their pathways in Maths/Science, Humanities, Business, Arts or Vocational subject groupings. The VELS Strands of vertical skills development are achieved through the integration of Personal Learning, Enquiry Based Learning, the Learning Journey, Mentoring, and the Careers program. Bentleigh offers two LOTEs; Japanese and Indonesian. Students have also undertaken other languages within their VCE studies via a distance education program. |
