Year 7 Camp Marysville

On Monday the 7th of February, the Year 7 cohort departed for their three-day Camp Marysville adventure. Once we arrived at Camp Marysville the students were allocated cabin groups and put into their activities groups, ready for their first round of activities.

Throughout the camp students had the opportunity to scale the bouldering wall, learn how to start a camp fire and make a shelter, go mountain bike riding, abseil down the tallest wooden structure in the Southern Hemisphere and visit the town centre of Marysville. The Year 7s also had the opportunity to use their understanding of food and the use of fresh ingredient’s straight from the garden to create tasty snacks, such as a pizza. The students also tested their problem-solving and teamwork skills, balance and coordination on the low ropes and initiative courses.

The food was delicious as always and students loved the night activities, including the mini Olympics on their first night and trivia during the second night. By Wednesday the students were running out of energy and clean clothes to wear, but had thoroughly enjoyed their experience. A far quieter trip back to Bentleigh saw students reunited with parents and heading home for a well-earned rest. A fun three days were had by all!

A big thank you to the Camp Marysville leaders and the amazing Bentleigh staff for their efforts throughout the camp.
