Principal's Report December 2024

Bentleigh Secondary College students have brought to life our motto, Optimum Esse vos Esse, where they have pursued excellence in their academic, creative and sporting pursuits.  Our Student Leaders have worked to strengthen the Bentleigh Community, and our honour boards will record their contributions.  As a community, we have enjoyed many highlights during the year that was 2024. These include the work of the Student Representative Council, House Sport, STEAM, Inter-School Sports Competitions, House Carnivals – Swimming, Athletics and Cross Country, Debating, Dance Drama and Chorals, Arts Exhibition and the Performing Arts. I am always impressed with the commitment of students across all year levels working together in an atmosphere of collegiality and enjoyment; and again, congratulate Wickham House as the winners of the House Cup for 2024.

We are delighted to share the VCE Results of our Class of 2024.

We congratulate our ‘Bentonian Scholars’ and our teaching staff at Bentleigh Secondary College for their collaborative efforts to achieve such outstanding results.

Highlights of the Class of 2024 include:

  • 17% of the class were in the top 10% of the state with ATARs of 90 or above

  • 51% of the class were in the top 30% of the state with ATARs of 70 or above

  • Median Study Score was 30

The school DUX was Felix McIntosh with an outstanding ATAR and DUX Proximus was Baille Moser.

As a local government school with small classes, we are proud to be a training ground for Victoria’s next generation of leaders. We are confident that these results will open doors, spark passions and fuel ambitions, with a strong efficacy of supporting others. Our Class of 2024 demonstrated this by persevering and achieving a Median Study Score of 30! Congratulations to the Class of 2024!

We are incredibly proud of the significant involvement of our parents in the life of our school and the efforts of our newly formed Parents Association led by Rachel Yianni and the other parents who do so much for the college community. I am also grateful to our School Council led by School Council President Yvette Herft whose commitment, support and substantial expertise for our school is unwavering.

Finally, thank you to all teachers and educational support staff for their continual focus on ensuring the school is recognised as a provider of exemplary government education characterised as a hub of educators, learners and leaders. Our results this year demonstrates this commitment to continual improvement.

Ultimately, education is about so much more and as a school community, we are so proud of all the times our students have tested themselves, shown intellectual courage and strong leadership. As a Principal, I am extremely proud of their achievements and grateful of the efforts of all staff at Bentleigh.
