We farewelled our Year 12 students with celebrations appropriate to the current restrictions but with a great sense of optimism for their upcoming examinations and the exciting next stage of their lives.
We congratulate the cohort on their superb commitment, attitude, willingness to always support each other, and resilience throughout the whole of their VCE years in 2020 and 2021. We wish them all the best for their VCAA examinations.
I also would like to acknowledge the superb support that has been ongoing from the Senior School Team led by Dr Michael Lyristis, Head of Senior School and Heads of Year Level, Rebecca Gemmola, Kylie Dark, Courtney Fraraccio and John Karydis, Rebecca Poulos (Careers), Lu Liu (International Students), Ruwani Liyanagedera (Senior School Education Support) and all of the VCE teachers throughout 2021. Parents and families should also be applauded for their ongoing support and encouragement throughout this extremely challenging time.
A wonderful celebration was held last week when we streamed our Class of 2021 Final Assembly to students, their families and staff. The Virtual Presentation was an outstanding tribute to our students and duly recognised their resilience, courage, collaboration and positivity throughout the year.
Throughout Term 4, we will continue our planning for 2022 which commenced many months ago with student subject selections, enrolments and staffing decisions. I am particularly looking forward to meeting the students who will be appointed to student leadership positions for 2022. This year’s student leaders have been outstanding in their originality and flexibility to engage their respective cohorts and committees. I know that their role-modelling will be powerful motivators for aspiring leaders ahead of their own interviews.
On Monday 13 December, a video streamed Presentation Night and Year 12 Graduation Night which will be shared with our school community given that we cannot join together at Kingston Arts Centre. It still promises to be a wonderful recognition of our school community and I thank the Marketing Team for their superb planning to date.
Finally, seeing our students return through the gates of Bentleigh Secondary School was exciting and joyous. Thank you to all the wonderful parents for the morning tea and refreshments. The staff are grateful and appreciative of your support during these challenging times. It was lovely to see everyone come in and grab something to have outside in the piazza. Thank you!

After a long and challenging two years our Year 12 students are heading into the final few weeks of their schooling.
Having spent a significant portion of their Senior School Years remote learning they returned with smiles, ready and willing. Their final few days before exams were spent having a little bit of fun together with the Senior School Teaching Staff. You are all winners Year 12’s and you should all be proud of how far you have come.
We graciously acknowledge the incredible work of the Senior School Team and the support they have given to the students as they navigated these new and trying times together.
We cannot wait to see you all dressed to impress on Presentation Night Monday 13 December.
