Anzac Day Commemoration

On Monday 24 of April we held an Anzac Day Commemoration service.  and on Tuesday 25 April, two of our school captains the privlege of representing our school in a community ANZAC service at the Bentleigh RSL.
The Service commenced at 10am, after a welcome we where given rosemary to wear, as it is a symbol of remembrance, to remember those who have served our country during conflict and crisis. The ANZAC service marks the anniversary of the first major military action fought by the Australians and New Zealand forces during the First World War. The most memorable part of the service was when the wreaths were laid upon the catafalque surrounded by party of service men to pay their respect for those who have fallen, and we had the opportunity to lay a wreath on behalf of our school. Another remarkable event was ‘The Last Post’. The Last Post is one of a number of bugle calls in military tradition that mark the phases of the day and signals it’s end. We were emotionally moved by the bugles last call as it was a final farewell and symbolises the duty of the dead is over, and they can rest in peace. The service brought so many people together that showed a huge appreciation for all that have served and continue to serve for our nation. It was a memorable day for us and to be apart of it was an absolute honour.
