Principal's October Report 2023
Year 12 Final Assembly & Final Bell
A lovely celebration was held on Monday 16 October 2023. The Class of 2023 have grown not just in height, but in character, wisdom, and resilience. They have faced challenges with determination, celebrated triumphs with humility, and shown an unwavering commitment to learning and personal growth. Their accomplishments are a testament to the hard work, dedication, and the support of their families and teachers.
Our School Leaders of 2023 demonstrated a commitment and determination to build school pride through the various SRC events, House Sport, Chorals, Dance Drama, Debating, Music and the Performing Arts, and most recently Bentleigh's Got Talent. Four of them sit on School Council and it is an honour to be their Principal,
An excerpt of the Principals' Address at the Final Year 12 Assembly on Monday 16 October 2023:
As you step into the world beyond these walls, I encourage you to embrace change with an open heart and a curious mind. Stay true to your values and your principles. In a world that sometimes seems chaotic, your integrity and kindness will be your greatest assets. Embrace diversity, celebrate differences, and always treat others with respect and empathy. Use your education and your talents to make a positive impact on the world around you. As you move forward, remember that your alma mater will always be here to support you. Our doors are open, and our hearts are with you. Your achievements will always be a source of pride for us, and your journey will forever be a part of our school's legacy. So, as you take your next steps, carry with you the lessons learned and the knowledge that you are truly capable of achieving greatness. The world is waiting for your unique contributions, and I have no doubt that you will make it a better place . .. I congratulate the best cohort to date in my Principalship!
School Review
Thank you to Yvette H for attending Validation Day on 6 October, as well as participating in the Field Days on 17 and 18 October 2023.
The School Review Challenge Partners interviewed several teachers and students seeking clarity around three key questions:
1. To what extent do teachers utilise high-impact pedagogy to optimise student achievement? (with a particular focus on numeracy and enhanced senior certificate provision)
2. To what extent does the school optimise student wellbeing?
3. How does the school optimise student agency in learning?
What resonated for me was all the Challenge Partners commented that staff feel supported by leadership; the school environment is safe and harmonious; the students are connected to school and extra-curricular programs.
