The Victorian Government has provided $58 million to the SBCP to provide healthy, nutritious food that helps sustain students during the school day. The program includes free breakfasts, lunches and holiday food supplies to students identified as requiring additional support.

Japan - Land of the Rising Sun Tour

Bentleigh Secondary College has a long tradition of connection with Japan which includes a sister school in Osaka. The tour was designed to provide students with an invaluable experience of both language and culture to promote intercultural understanding, provide unique opportunities to use language, and allow Bentleigh SC students to connect with our sister school.

The days of sightseeing in Japan were incredible! From the serene beauty of the temples to the vibrant energy of the city streets, Japan offers a unique blend of tradition and modernity. Every corner holds a new adventure and a magical experience.

The students' visit to our Sister School in Japan was a truly enriching experience.  It's wonderful to see students engaging in academic and cultural exchanges, building new friendships, and creating lasting memories. Such opportunities are invaluable in broadening their horizons and fostering a deeper understanding of different cultures.

Our students also had a fantastic day at Nara Park! Visiting the historic temples and interacting with the friendly deer was an unforgettable experience.

  • Nara Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site
  • Historic Temples
  • Feeding the Friendly Deer
  • Cultural Exploration and Unforgettable Moments

This blend of history, culture, and nature makes for a truly enriching experience. The students will cherish these memories for a long time!

VCE Chemistry Instrumental Workshop - UoM

On June 4 Our VCE Chemists travelled to Melbourne University to perform analyses on chemicals as part of either:
i) Unit 2 Chemistry "What's in Water?"
or
ii) Unit 4 "Organic Analysis" workshops.

Our VCE Chemistry squad delved deep into Unit 2 and Unit 4 analysis.
High praise to the ChemCrew for their dedication and hard work! Their commitment to mastering complex concepts and exploring advanced topics is truly commendable. Keep pushing the boundaries of your knowledge and making strides in the world of chemistry!

A big thank you to The School of Chemistry from The University of Melbourne for  providing safety glasses and a lab coat for each student.

Legal Studies

Legal Studies is an interdisciplinary course examining the meanings, values, practices, and institutions of law and legality. On Wednesday 6th June 2024 our students studying VCE Legal Studies had the opportunity to experience real-life court cases in action, as well as participate in a question-and-answer session with Magistrate Hartnett and a Supreme Court Judge. This was invaluable experience as it assists students in consolidating theoretical knowledge with practical insights, deepening their understanding of the Victorian justice system.

Push Up Challenge

Strength for Mental Health

On Tuesday 4 June, the grounds of Bentleigh Secondary College were buzzing with energy and excitement as students and staff participated in the Push-Up Challenge to support mental health awareness. This fantastic event was made possible with the support of Headspace Bentleigh and Headspace Elsternwick, who joined us to promote the importance of mental well-being.

The challenge saw our students showcasing their strength and endurance through a series of exercises including push-ups, star jumps, skips, squats, and lunges. It wasn’t just about physical prowess but also about camaraderie, sportsmanship, and having a blast while supporting a great cause.

A huge thank you to everyone involved—students, staff, and our wonderful partners at Headspace. Your participation and enthusiasm made the event a resounding success. Together, we are stronger, both in body and mind!
