As part of our Homegroup program we explored the theme of Everyone Belongs as part of this initiative.
Our first video is Everyone belongs
When we feel like we belong, bullying struggles to find a place. It's about embracing who we are, respecting everyone's differences and standing up together against unkindness.
Belonging means we all have a role in preventing bullying. We're encouraged to speak up and create a safe place where everyone feels supported and respected, and our voices are heard and valued.
Our second video is Embrace Diversity
In our school community, ensuring a sense of belonging is very important so that we can create an environment where bullying has no place.
We will explored what it means to value and celebrate the diverse backgrounds, interests, and identities of each student, to ensure an environment where everyone feels seen, heard, and accepted.
Embracing diversity isn't just about tolerance; it's about actively embracing the richness that comes from unity in our differences.
How can you demonstrate to someone that you value and honour their unique qualities, and what actions can others take to make you feel appreciated and celebrated for who you are?
Our third video is Promote empathy
We talked about empathy. That's when we try to understand how someone else is feeling, and show them kindness and that we care.
Do you ever imagine how someone else might be feeling? When we try this, it can help us to be nicer to each other. For example, if you think someone is feeling sad because they didn't do well on a test or aren’t good at playing a game, you can help cheer them up by saying something nice about them.
What else could you do to show more kindness and help people feel like they’re not alone? Even small things you do can make a big difference in making our school an even better place for everyone.
As Ms Hiotis mentioned in our whole school assembly on Tuesday 13 August a small act of kindness can make a big difference. What act of kindness will you do?
Also a big Thank you to Glen Eira Youth Services and Headspace for coming to our school on Tuesday 13 August as part of the Bullying No Way National Week of Action. Glen Eira Youth Services ran a friendship bracelet making activity in the piazza at lunchtime and Headspace set up an information stall. It was great to see everyone there celebrating this important day to say NO to bullying.
