Student Representative Council (SRC)
The Student Representative Council (SRC) at Bentleigh Secondary College provides a structured and meaningful student leadership platform that enables students to represent their peers, contribute to school life, and support the broader community. SRC members are drawn from all year levels, including the College and Middle School Captains, and meet regularly with staff to share ideas, organise activities and help make the College a better place for everyone.
SRC Purpose and Role
- Represents student voices and viewpoints to staff and school leadership.
- Acts as a communication link between the student body and the school.
- Plans and runs initiatives, events and fundraising activities that benefit the school community and local charities.
SRC Activities and Events
Breakfast Club
SRC students help lead the Breakfast Club, held every Tuesday and Thursday from 8:00 am – 8:45 am in the Da Vinci Building. This initiative offers a free, healthy start to the day for students and is supported by the School Breakfast Clubs Program.
Remembrance Day
The SRC organises activities to mark Remembrance Day, giving students the opportunity to take part in respectful ceremonies and commemorations that honour those who have served.
Fundraising Events
Throughout the year, the SRC runs a variety of fundraising initiatives, supporting local services, charities, and community programs, while encouraging students to contribute to meaningful causes.
ANZAC Day Participation
SRC representatives and College Captains attend local ANZAC Day services, including the Bentleigh RSL cenotaph service, where they lay wreaths and participate alongside community members to honour service and sacrifice.
Community Service & Leadership Engagement
SRC students are involved in programs that support community heroes and service‑oriented leadership activities, including special classes (e.g., Year 9 involvement) that encourage contribution to the local community through service and support efforts.
Students interested in leadership and service can nominate or be elected to represent their year level on the SRC early in Term 1. Representatives are expected to attend regular meetings, contribute ideas, lead initiatives, and act as a positive voice for their classmates.
