The 2020 Year 6 – 7 Transition Information Packs for Schools and Parents/Carers became available for the 2020-21 transition period through local government Primary Schools.
Due to the impact of coronavirus (COVID-19), slight adjustments to the state-wide timeline have been made. Application Forms are now due by Friday 29 May. Also due to remote and flexible learning arrangements, government primary schools may be unable to distribute the 2020 Parent/Carer Pack to every Year 6 family in hard copy from the commencement of Term 2. Contact your primary school if you have not received this.
If you are a parent / Carer of a student in Year 6 at a Government Primary School:
Parents are required to complete the Application for Year 7 Placement 2021 Form (distributed by Primary Schools) and return it to the Principal of the Government Primary School. The revised deadline to return this form to your child's Primary School is Friday 29 May, 2020. This form serves to ‘track’ the progress of a student’s application in accordance with the expression of preference (priority) listed on the form.
More information is available in the Schools Pack, on the DET Transition Year 6 to 7 web page.
Applications will be processed using the Application for Year 7 Placement 2021 Form. Primary schools are responsible for monitoring the placement of each of their students into a secondary school. The Principals of Government Primary Schools will inform parents/carers directly of the outcome on Wednesday 19 August, 2020. Bentleigh Secondary College is not permitted to discuss outcomes with anyone before this date in accordance with Department policy.
