On Tuesday August 27, Bentleigh Secondary College celebrated ‘Wear it Purple Day’ in support of the LGBTQI+ community and as an opportunity for all to demonstrate pride in themselves and respect for diversity. Students were invited to wear purple accessories and a purple ribbon as well as sign a Pledge Wall poster which stated that ‘We at Bentleigh Secondary College are proud of ourselves and respectful of diversity’. The posters were combined to form a pledge wall. Staff also got involved by signing a Pledge Wall poster, wearing purple ribbons and wearing some very purple clothing.
Thankyou to all who supported the day, particularly the members of the Respect Group who spent weeks creating hundreds of purple ribbons and for their decorations of the piazza on the day. Thanks also goes to our new Adolescent Health Nurse, Ann Marsh.
